When hair lacks hydration, it becomes dry, damaged and breaks. This can result from several factors including discoloration, heat (straighteners, hair dryers, curling irons, etc.), climatic conditions or even porosity. Hydration then becomes an essential key to a healthy mane. Therefore, you have to think about daily hydration of your hair through the different hair products that you use so that it can grow and you can also maintain the length, which among us is one of the most difficult stages in your hair adventure 😩😢. Hence the importance of moisturizing masks in your routine.

Let's discover different hydrating hair masks that you can easily make in your kitchen.

1.Aloe Vera

The best moisturizing ingredient you can find 👌🏾☺️(and my skin's sworn enemy 😢). Take an aloe vera leaf or more, depending on the length of your hair and the size of the leaves. Wash them and make sure to remove the yellow liquid ⚠️, as it is toxic and could harm your health. Cut the sheet into several pieces, remove the spicy edges and using a spoon take the gel and mix them. Filter if necessary. You can add a little honey and vegetable oils. Apply to your hair and leave for 30 minutes to 1 hour. Then wash them as usual.

2.Okra and honey

Take a few okra (or calalous, okras), around ten should be enough but feel free to add or remove some, depending on the length of your hair. Wash them and cut them into small pieces. In a container, put a little water and the pieces of okra, then boil them. After about fifteen minutes, using a fork, try to crush them; if you can crush them without forcing too much, they are ready. Leave to cool, then mix, filter using a strainer or super fine cloth. Add a little honey and there you go ☺️. Apply to your hair, leave for 15 minutes to 1 hour, then shampoo. You can also do the mask on clean hair, you will apply it after your shampoo and before your conditioner.

3.Oatmeal and honey

Honestly, this mask is my favorite ☺️🥰. It will not only moisturize the hair but also make it supple, soft and add shine. The mask can be made with flakes but also with flour. With the flakes, preparation can begin the day before. Soak a cup of oatmeal in a little water (I can't tell you the quantity 😅, I always do it by feeling 🙈). The next day, mix and then filter using a super fine cloth to leave no residue. Add a little honey and vegetable oils of your choice. Apply to your hair and leave on for 30 minutes or 1 hour. Then rinse the mask and wash your hair.

4.Fig-banana and honey

I had already shown you an almost similar mask but which was protein. This time, I'm just removing one ingredient and it's a moisturizing mask (bibidi babidi boo 🪄🤭), and yes Cinderella's magic can also be done in our kitchen 😌😁. Mash a banana fig using a fork, make sure there are no lumps, add a few spoons of honey and vegetable oils. You can choose to mix the ingredients, it’s up to you. Apply the mask to your hair, leave it on for about 1 hour and then wash it.

5.Honey and vegetable oils

Honey can also be used as a key ingredient in a mask. To make it less sticky, mix a quantity of honey and a little warm water or lemon juice. Add vegetable oils of your choice and mix. Apply to your lengths and leave for between 15 minutes and 1 hour. Finish with your shampoo. You can also apply this mask to clean hair.

How to apply masks

When applying moisturizing masks, everything will depend on the ingredients used. You can apply them to dry hair when they are super liquid, like the aloe vera and okra mask, for others you can apply them to damp hair. Remember to apply them2 cm from the scalpto avoid getting dandruff and other itchy scalp.

When to make a hydrating mask

You can make hydrating masks as often as you want. As soon as you feel the need to moisturize your hair and you are going to do a mask, you can opt for it. However, I always recommend adapting the masks according to the porosity of your hair, so you will be sure to provide the right care for your mane. If you have high porosity, you can alternate between protein masks and moisturizers with each wash. If, on the contrary, your hair is not very porous, you can do up to 4 hydrating masks per month because the hair fiber needs hydration.
