Hello everyone, I hope you are well. Today, I end up with a new personality. Summer arrives and you quickly want to draw your swimsuit to enjoy the summer atmosphere. To prepare the Summer Body, Merlenda Coquillon is the one who must be contacted, a sports enthusiast who has been able to transform her life and her gaze on herself. She presents herself to you in 10 questions.
1. Present yourself.
My name is Coquillon Merlenda Ediana Naika, I have been a passionate sporting since June 2020. Sport has always been an essential part of my life, not only for the physical, but especially for the mental and emotional balance it brings me.
2. What led you to want to coach others and do you have a sports coaching training?
It was by transforming my own life thanks to the sport that I understood that I wanted to help others to do the same. Currently I am training at the International Sport Science Association (ISSA) to have more expertise in the field and to help even more people.
3. How do you manage to reconcile your life and your activity?
This is a matter of organization and passion. Sport is part of my daily life, so it naturally integrates. I plan my days with moments for my clients, for my training, but also for my family and my rest times.
4. What lifestyle should adopt an average person to preserve their health?
A good lifestyle is based on four pillars: a balanced diet, quality sleep, regular physical activity and good stress management. No need to be extreme, just consistent and regular.
5. What are the factors you take care of to prepare a program for a customer?
I take into account the objective, the starting level, the medical history, the lifestyle, the constraints due to the hours, motivation and even personal preferences. Each program is personalized, there is no universal magic formula.
6. What is the recurring objective of the people you coach? And why do you think?
Weight loss remains the number one goal. Often, it is linked to a need for well-being, self-confidence or health. But behind this goal, there is often a deeper quest for change in lifestyle.
7. What should we do to lose fat?/How to gain muscle?
- A healthy and balanced diet is the basis for losing fat. This means consuming fewer calories than you spend. It is important to eat foods rich in protein, fiber and essential nutrients, while limiting processed foods, rich in sugar and fats
- To gain muscle mass you will have to respect 3 rules: food, training and recovery.
Proteins are crucial for muscle construction. Opt for lean protein sources such as chicken, turkey, fish, eggs, legumes and low fat dairy products.
8. Describe a typical day of your life?
My day usually starts early with a moment for me, often a small sports session or a calm time to refocus. Then, I go to work where I have a fairly busy and sometimes not very flexible schedule. So I organize myself to integrate physical activity around my hours, often early in the morning or at the end of the day. The rest of the time is divided between my professional responsibilities, my family life and my passion for sport, well-being. It's not always simple, but with discipline and good organization, anything is possible.
9. What are the myths that exist around the regular practice of physical activity?
That you have to train every day to have results, that women will be "too muscular" if they raise weights, or what to make abs make a stomach lose. These received ideas brake many people. You have to educate as much as coach.
10. What advice would you give to a young person who wishes to follow your example and get started?
